Weston-super-Mare continue winning run against Basingstoke Town
Weston-super-Mare notched their fourth straight Blue Square Bet South win by overwhelming a poor Basingstoke Town outfit 5-2.
The home side were missing defenders Jamie Laird and Jamie Price, while on-loan central defender Manny Parry, who lives in London, mistakenly went to Basingstoke’s ground and only arrived in Weston at half-time. He was, however, named as a substitute and came on after 57 minutes.

Weston opened their account on nine minutes when Chas Hemmings had a low effort parried by former Exeter goalkeeper Ashley Bayes. Hemmings reclaimed the rebound and laid off for Nabi Diallo to score.
Weston doubled their advantage on 17 minutes when Ross Stearn beat three defenders in a run up the left and his pin-point cross was met by Hemmings with a strong header.

Kane Ingram put the game out of Basingstoke’s reach on 21 minutes when he was set up by Hemmings to score at the second attempt.
Ashley Kington got on the scoresheet on 54 minutes and Weston’s tally was completed on 76 minutes when Stearn was brought down in the penalty area and he scored from the spot.
Basingstoke never gave up and, after bringing on all three substitutes, scored twice through Stefan Brown on 84 minutes and Delano Sam-York a minute before time.
