The hall on Walliscote Grove Road has today become a central hub for town services offered by Avon and Somerset Police and North Somerset Council.

Chief Superintendent Julian Moss said: "It makes sense to provide one central location where people can access public services, whether they are reporting a crime, seeking police advice or wanting to talk to someone about housing benefits or council tax.

"We are looking forward to working more closely with our colleagues in the town hall to provide a better and more joined up service."

North Somerset Council leader, Cllr Nigel Ashton, said: "It has always been our intention to create a hub for public services at the town hall so I'm pleased that we have been able to make this happen so quickly, within three months of the new facility opening.

"Accommodating the police extends the range of services available under one roof for local people, and also makes it easier for us to work together forging an even closer working relationship to build safer and stronger communities in North Somerset. It also makes financial and operational sense for both organisations."

Weston-super-Mare's police station will continue to house the local neighbourhood, patrol and CID teams, but police enquiries will be dealt with at the Town Hall.

The hub will be open from 8.30am to 8pm from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 7pm on Saturdays, and 10am to 7pm on Sundays. Bank Holiday hours will be 10am to 4pm for police enquiries only.

A yellow phone to contact the police outside of the hours is at the bottom of the town hall steps and at the police station. In a non-emergency, police can be contacted on 101.
