Westland Sports seal historic treble by lifting Somerset Senior Cup
WESTLAND Sports have created history by becoming the first Magna Dorset Premier League team to win the treble of the league title, MDPL Cup and Somerset Senior Cup.
The Yeovil side completed the remarkable feat on Friday by beating Somerset County League outfit Cutters Friday 3-1 in their home county competition at the Tannery Ground in Street.

Kevin Leigh's men took the lead after half an hour thanks to a George Mapletoft strike but relinquished the lead ten minutes later by giving away a penalty.
Twenty minutes into the second half Marc Caines headed home Dean Corden's cross to reclaim the lead for his side, and quarter of an hour later Steve Burton crossed for Mike Rousell to power in the header which confirmed the win and sent the Westland support into raptures.

Assistant manager Neil Waddleton admitted that the result was an emotional one which he would find it difficult to forget.
He said: "At half time we went in confident despite conceding, because we believed in our own ability and knowing we could still win it.
"Mike scored the third, which was the goal of the game, and the sight of him running off in front of the fans will live with me forever. It was a moment of sheer delight.
"There was more emotion shown then than at any other point of the season, because up until then there had not been a point where we could sit back and enjoy what we had done. All the emotion came out."
Sports signed off for the season on Monday, beating Bridport Reserves 5-1 in the MDPL. Waddleton said: "We have played more than 50 games this season which is a huge achievement in itself. We haven't lost since October 8 and we have broken records. To do that with all the top teams we have had to play, especially in the run in, is quite breathtaking.
"The achievements are excellent obviously but the togetherness of the squad and how hard they have worked and the commitment they have shown makes it even better.
"It is more than a football team now because of the friendships we have created. We wanted to create an environment where the lads enjoy football, and we have done that."
