Trucker David Cross, who lives in Yeovil, said there was much excitement about bringing a truck show to his hometown.

He said: "This will be a major event in the trucking calendar and we are thrilled to be able to bring it to Yeovil.

"It will be the only show of its kind in the South West after Truckfest decided to relocate to Malvern in Worcestershire.

"Yeovil has been crying out for something like this since the Festival of Transport stopped.

"We will be having some of the top show trucks from all over the country.

"There is a lot of interest from the trucking community and we've got some of the top judges coming down.

"We've even got some of the American guys coming.

"We know there is a captive audience for this in Yeovil and we want to bring it to the people of the town.

"It is something we are really excited about.

"We hope we can get around 5,000 people to the show."

As well as the trucks, there will also be many other attractions, including live music and a farmers' market.

Organisers hope to be able to promote local businesses at the event.

The show will also be raising money for two charities: St Margaret's Hospice and bibic (British Institute for Brain Injured Children).

The showground will be open from 9am until 5.30pm over the two days.

Adult tickets are £6 and child tickets are £3.

A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £15.

A weekend family pass costs £25.
