Wells MP Conservative hopeful James Heappey meets Compton Bishop and Cross Conservatives
The Conservative MP hopeful for the next general election was welcomed to the constituency by the Compton Bishop and Cross Branch of the Wells Conservative Association.
Members and friends gathered on Saturday in the Memorial Hall, Cross for a “celebratory” dinner. The occasion marked the selection and appointment of James Heappey as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the 2015 General Election.

James and his wife, Kate, attended and were welcomed by those present. James, who became a father in June last year, said how very much he appreciated his selection and he was enthusiastic about the challenge and the prospect of representing the Wells constituency.
His family background is from this area and he attended school in Bristol followed by University in Birmingham before joining the Army.

After Sandhurst he was commissioned into The Rifles. He served with them in Iraq, Northern Ireland and Sangin in Helmand Province, Afghanistan before being chosen by hundreds of party members to stand for election to the Wells constituency.
In closing, James urged local people to support hardworking county councillor John Denbee in the county council elections in May.
