Wells City Harrier AC's Adrian Marriott scales Alps challenge
Wells City Harriers AC's Adrian Marriott was the first Team England runner home when he represented his country in the Jungfrau Marathon in the Swiss Alps on Sunday.
The race, also known as the World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships, covers the traditional 26.2-mile distance but also includes some 5,900 foot of ascent.

Marriott completed the challenging course in 3hrs 18mins, just 60 minutes more than his marathon personal best, to finish first out of the four-man England team.
That also put him an impressive 32nd overall out of more than 6,000 competitors.

Marriott was looking pretty well recovered the following day when he returned to Wells to talk to Harriers' junior athletes at their weekly Monday night training session, inspiring them for the club's forthcoming road relay and cross-country season.
Harriers were also well represented at the world-famous Great North Run on Sunday, with 16-year-old Matt Dickinson finishing an excellent second in his age group.
Luke Prior was third in the 14-year-old category, with the younger Oliver Dickinson coming 12th and 11-year-old Victoria Prior finishing a fine 23rd against athletes a year or more older.
Steve Dickinson ran an excellent half marathon in the main event, coming home in 1:44, but Simon Prior had to withdraw due to injury.
