Wedmore residents feel the pinch
The pinch-point in Wedmore sparked a heated debate during the Wedmore Parish Council meeting on Wednesday.
Marion Williams who lives close to the Pilcorn Street pinch point requested a breakdown of cost of the calming measures.
She said there was too much lighting and signs and markings were in the wrong place.
“Residents of Pilcorn Street were content with the original plan submitted and approved by the parish and county council for the original siting of the proposed crossing,” said Mrs Williams.

“We were only informed in September 2012 that the original plan had to be amended and the crossing had to be moved down the street.
“The results of the amended project have urbanised our pretty village, the street furniture is both cheap and tacky and not in keeping with the village.
“There is no other village locally that is blighted by this eyesore.
“The purpose of the crossing was to slow the traffic down however this did not happen.
“There is real concern that the layout of the installation has created the possibility of a serious accident. The speed limits are still exceeded.”
