Wedmore looking to improve again after successful year
With the second team gaining promotion and the firsts and thirds consolidating positions in mid-table, Wedmore Cricket Club enjoyed an encouraging season during 2011.
First team captain Martyn Boley rose to the challenge in his maiden campaign in the role and introduced several new players to the club, building good foundations for the future.

Pip Patch, second team captain, led by example with the bat and was instrumental in securing his side their second promotion in three seasons with league victory.
The thirds, under the stewardship of James McQuarrie, had a mixed year in terms of performance but their sportsmanship was rewarded by gaining the Don Crouch Fair Play Award.
It is a notable achievement that the thirds were able to put out a side every week, while also bringing on new talent in the shape of Josh Burgess and Tim Ingle, who also played for the seconds last season.
Ally Cave was named first team player of the year following the conclusion of the season, with Matt Drew taking the second team prize. Majid was the thirds' player of the year, with Martyn Boley crowned clubman of the year.
The club would like to thank Lloyd Patch for his organisation of the Sunday side and Paul Nicholls, Dave Williams, Bob Burgess, Scott Harris and Pip Patch for their involvement with the youth teams.
The club's under-13 side finished second in their league, with notable performances from Sam Blackburn and Aiden Nichols, while the under-11s finished third. Tom Stevens was young player of the year.
Anyone interested in joining the club is welcome to attend indoor net sessions, which start on Sunday at Mark College. Under-13s train from 3.30pm-4.30pm, with all other teams in action from 4.30pm.
The sessions will continue until the start of the season when nets commence outside at Wedmore Recreation Ground.
Senior league matches are played on Saturday afternoons, while the non-league side play on Sundays. Under-15 and under-13 games are also on Sundays, with under-11s in action on Friday nights.
