Fake letters claiming recipients could be eligible for a reduction in their council tax are circulating Bridgwater and Burnham.

The fraud involves offering a re-assessment of people's council tax band in exchange for their bank details.

Anyone who receives such a letter is asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police or Sedgemoor District Council.
