WI hears how Glastonbury Festival was launched
Nearly 70 people attended the first official meeting of High Littleton WI on Tuesday, October 2.
The guest speaker was Michael Eavis, who spoke for an hour about the origins of the Glastonbury Festival.

Having been inspired by the Blues Festival at the Bath and West showground in Shepton Mallet, Mr Eavis set about booking bands for a festival of his own.
He spoke about how the festival grew from humble beginnings through to the massive event that is held today.

Mr Eavis explained how the festival had always been tied very closely to supporting charities, starting with CND to the present day with money going to Oxfam, WaterAid and Greenpeace as well as many other charities in the area.
He was glad that Glastonbury was on a break this year as he was sure that the festival would not have survived this summer's terrible weather.
Mr Eavis said that he always considered that each festival would be the last one he organised and each year endeavoured to do it better.
He said that he was constantly amazed and humbled by the public's enthusiasm for the festival.
Mr Eavis was happy to answer questions; members were interested to find out what happens to his cows during the festival and were amused to hear about the "Mootel" fitted with all mod-cons.
