Volunteers needed for Avon and Somerset Police scrutiny panel
Volunteers are needed to sit on a new panel which will scrutinise policing in Avon and Somerset.
The area's Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevents has opened applications for a volunteer complaints panel which will look at complaints against police and highlight good practice.

From today people over the age of 18, living or working in the Avon and Somerset area can apply to scrutinise various aspects of policing.
Ms Mountstevens said: "I am really pleased to be able to offer opportunities for people to be involved in policing. I feel very privileged to hold the role of Police and Crime Commissioner but I cannot do it alone.

"I need to hear from people who are passionate about improving policing, who have links with the community and a wide range of views. Anyone over the age of 18, who lives or works in the area, can apply for the role, and I look forward to reading the applications and working with the volunteers."
The volunteers who will receive training and expenses for travel. They will also be required to take part in quarterly meetings - during office hours - to review police complaint files, highlight where policing is working consistently to extend good practice and submit reports for the Police and Crime Commissioner.
The closing date for applications is Wednesday, March 20.
