A Wells shop is on the lookout for kind-hearted pop-pickers with an expert eye.

The Oxfam Book and Music Shop in Wells is appealing for volunteers to fulfil a number of positions.

But in particular Oxfam shop manager Louise Deplae said they are seeking someone with some knowledge of their vinyl.

"We need people for our shop floor team as well as people interested in sorting and pricing our donations – books and vinyl," she said.

"We have an urgent need for someone with musical expertise who could price classical vinyl."

Oxfam in Wells relies on its band of volunteers, with some clocking up more than a decade of service.

Louise explained why it was so important to gain more volunteers.

"By volunteering you can help to raise even more money for Oxfam's work to fight poverty and suffering," she said.

"Volunteers are of all age groups from students to retired people and are part of a nationwide team of 22,000 shop volunteers.

"Full training will be given and some travel and parking expenses will be paid.

"The amount of time each volunteer commits is up to them.

"The Wells shop is among the 750 Oxfam shops across the United Kingdom, which have pioneered ethical shopping by selling donated goods – with all proceeds going towards Oxfam's charity work to end poverty.

"Volunteering is a way of learning new skills to improve your CV as well as a chance to meet people and be part of something special."

Anyone interested should see Louise in the shop, telephone 01749 677562 or register your interest on www .oxfam.org.uk/shop/content/ help/shopvolunteering.html.
