Villagers pull together to help skate park
STOKE St Michael came together to raise money for the village skateboard fund.
Children as young as six and adults ten times their age all gathered in the hope of raising enough money for a new quarter pipe for the community field skate park.
The group of 27 residents, comprising parents, friends and children, went on the new Sustrans trail that travels through the Bath/Midford tunnels, over two miles underground and three miles overground.
Talking about the distance the group travelled, parish council chairman John Johnston said it was “a long way on a skateboard or scooter or ’heelies’”. The children raised nearly £1,000 last year and this is the largest event so far. The overall target is to raise £4,500 for a new quarter pipe.
