Vandals destroy town centre flower tubs
VANDALS have destroyed two flower tubs in Clevedon's Queen's Square.
The large containers, recently planted by the community group Clevedon Pride, were overturned onto the pavement late last Friday evening damaging the contents.
Clevedon Pride gardening group, which spent the summer tidying up and planting the tubs in Queen's Square, Station Road, Old Church Road and the Triangle, had completed the winter bedding just days before.
An angry spokesman for the group said: "During the summer we have transformed the look of this square making it a really lovely place to come.
"We are not prepared to let it be wrecked by mindless idiots, and like the majority of decent residents in Clevedon, are absolutely fed up with those few loutish youngsters who drop their litter everywhere, scribble graffiti all over the benches and are generally very unpleasant.
"Somehow they have to be stopped and the best way to do this is to ensure that whoever causes trouble or damage is caught and duly punished.
"Therefore, we appeal to anyone who knows the person or persons who wrecked our planters to contact Clevedon police station on 0845 4567000.
"This is a community problem and the community needs to get involved to put a stop to it."

“Maybe if there were some Police on Clevedon's streets at the weekend especially Friday's maybe that would help. The community do their bit - they pay their Council tax, which in turn pay for the police. I am NOT talking about PCSO's because they are not respected by these vandals.”
