UPDATED: Axbridge, Alston Sutton and Weare residents told to shut windows due to smoke from barn fire
The police and fire service are currently advising people living in Alston Sutton, Weare, Axbridge to shut their windows due to a large smoke plume from a barn fire.
Four fire engines, from Burnham on Sea, Cheddar, Winscombe and Weston Super Mare together with special appliances from Street and Bridgwater are in attendance at a barn fire which contains hay and straw.
On their arrival crews found the barn to be well alight containing approximately 60 tons of hay and straw.

The building is made of steel with an asbestos cladded roof.
Crews put two hosereel jets to work and police made local residents aware of the smoke plume, advising them to close all windows as a precaution.
15 tonnes of hay and 50 tonnes of sileage is stored in the barn and a large quantity is involved in the fire.
Fire crews are suppressing the spread of the fire using foam and water and by making a fire break in the hay.
