Trunk call sees duo clear tree from road
A FALLEN tree blocking rush hour traffic on Tuesday was quickly cleared away by local farmers Nigel Matthews and Jacob Hares.
The tree, believed to have been brought down by high winds, had fallen on to the A37 near Gurney Slade and blocked the road to all traffic.
On hearing the news, Mr Matthews and Mr Hares abandoned milking cows at Frome Road Farm, East Horrington, and rushed to clear the timber from the road near the Old Mendip Inn.
The road was cleared within an hour and a half.
