Truly a Roy of the Rovers club
BRISTOL Rovers are a true Roy of the Rovers club. For most of their modern history they did not own their own ground.
Their stand burnt down, they had to play for years 15 miles away where even their manager described them as Rag Bag Rovers washing their own shirts and lugging everything around in wicker baskets. They then had to share a ground with a rugby club where the playing surface contributed to relegation into what was then Division Four.
A few seasons ago they became the owners of their own ground and now are the first and only one of the two Bristol clubs to look forward to a brand new stadium.
Facing relegation at the beginning of this year they pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps and with their long list of injuries beginning to return to the field look like making an impact on their division and building a team.
Through very little thick and much thin their loyal band of supporters kept faith with them and I am confident will soon see the result of their loyalty.
