Troubadour Alex injects eclectic influences into sweet acoustic mix
Passionate vocal performance, dextrous acoustic guitar playing and a soupcon of loop-pedal trickery are all part of the mix when acoustic troubadour Alex Taylor takes to the stage.
The youngest son of jazz greats John Taylor and Norma Winstone, and raised in London, he has established himself as a shining light of the contemporary Bristol music scene, where he has worked with Phantom Limb, Roni Size, members of Massive Attack, and Portishead bassist Jim Barr.
Alex – whose jazzy, acoustic folk and electronica sound has been compared to both Jeff Buckley and Damien Rice – released his eponymous debut album earlier this month. He is currently touring around the UK, with two Westcountry dates next week.
Alex Taylor plays the Acoustic Cafe at Jericho's, Launceston (01566 770080) on Thursday, November 29 and the Eden Cafe, St Austell (01726 338114) on Friday, November 30.
