Triumph for mum's food blog
Coleford mother of two Vanesther Rees has won a national competition to find the country's best new parent blogs.
Mrs Rees was one of five finalists in the family food category of the Mum & Dad Blog Awards, beating more than 2,000 nominations. Seventy finalists, decided by public vote, were invited to attend the gala awards ceremony in London.
Mrs Rees, a freelance communications consultant, started writing her blog Bangers & Mash less than a year ago. It was a friend who suggested she started writing a food blog to share her experiences when she began meal planning as a way to reduce the weekly food budget and food waste.
Blog readers across the country were asked for vote for their favourites on the MAD blog awards website.
Mrs Rees said: "I was really surprised when my name was announced as I was up against some tough competition and I have only been blogging for less than a year.
"It is such a great feeling to know that people like what I write on Bangers & Mash and are enjoying my ideas for good family food that won't break the bank."
