Tor v Cheddar v North Petherton U9s

Cheddar agreed to step up first in the three-way draw and faced North Petherton.

Unfortunately, Cheddar took time to switch on and North Petherton had an easy time, running in a succession of tries without answer from Cheddar.

With the Cheddar faithful looking to forget the first display, Cheddar then lined up against Tor, where Matthew Charles showed his good form with some excellent runs and quickly scored the first of his five tries.

After sustained pressure from Cheddar, Michael Broadbent was released to run a fine try into the corner, with Toby Shaw in close support.

James Poynor demonstrated his ragged determination to contest every loose ball, while Xander Hartley, Will Spinks and Frank Morris kept the Tor attacks at bay.

Louis Morris gave the crowd another display of his legendary tackling technique to stump even the fastest of Tor's attackers.

In the play of the game, Michael Amey charged through a series of tackle attempts and offloaded the ball perfectly to send Sam Neil on to score a second superb try. Result: Tor 0 Cheddar 40.

Tor v Cheddar v North Petherton U10s

The first game against Petherton saw the deadlock broken with a typical surging run from Cheddar's Elliot Milne, resulting in his first of two tries for the day.

Cheddar took command, with tries from Charlie Brabham and Elliot Veal, but the victory was secured when Veal sped the length of the pitch to touch down. Result: Cheddar 20 Petherton 5.

Cheddar were then rampant in their second game against Tor, winning 65-0

Charlie again showed his strength with a touchline run to score the first of his four tries, with Veal scoring three more tries and new player Ben Mays two.

The ever-reliable Louis White was rewarded for his textbook tackling with a powerful run to score a superb try. New player Sam Gwyn's growing confidence in support was rewarded with two excellent tries for Cheddar.

Finn Pritchard and Jago Savage were strong in the maul, with Lewis May strong in all areas.

Will Gwyn made some fine passes, with Harry Hooper unfortunately having to leave early after injury.

Greeted by glorious sunshine and a biting wind, Cheddar prepared themselves for a morning of games.

Cheddar showed their tagging strength against Pethy and won 11-9, with four tries from Dan Bell, three from Charlie Raisey and the remaining tries scored by Archie Hill, Joe Chard, Josh Kelly and James Clutterbuck.

The second game against Tor was closely-fought, with eight tries apiece.

The under-7s look forward to a well- earned rest on Sunday, with the next training session at Cheddar's Sharpham Road playing fields on Sunday, March 21. All are welcome to join in the fun.
