Town to host a festival of enterprise

A festival to promote enterprise, creativity and business acumen is to be staged at venues throughout Frome next month.

Discuss and Do is being organised by the Frome and District Chamber of Commerce and the Frome Creative Network, with support from Somerset County Council, Mendip District Council and Frome Town Council.

Among the speakers at the three-day event from February 23 to 25 will be the Sunday Times' enterprise editor Rachel Bridge and fashion designer Pearl Lowe.

Miss Bridge, who is also the author of four self-help books on how to become an entrepreneur, will be in Frome on Thursday, February 23, where she will be co-hosting a Women in Business lunch with Ms Lowe.

During the afternoon Miss Bridge will join businessman Gavin Eddy, from the Old Church School, to run a two-hour hands-on session offering advice to budding entrepreneurs and seasoned business people to help them test out their ideas and take the next step to success.

In the evening she will deliver her one-woman Edinburgh Festival show based on her most recent bestseller, How to Make a Million Before Lunch, at the Merlin Theatre.

On Friday, February 24, an exhibition at the Cheese and Grain entitled FromFrome will give businesses a chance to show ff what they do.

Unsigned musicians will also be playing live and getting feedback from music industry professionals.

On Saturday, February 25, Johnny Martin and Modwenna Rees-Mogg will be running fiance workshops and Katy Duke will be advising on how to get on social media. Simon Morrissey will also describe how an art exhibition is curated.

There are early bird discounts on ticket prices for all bookings made before the end of January.
