Tourism and village leaders' champagne reception at Cheddar Woods
THE great and good of Somerset turned out on Wednesday night to join the management team of Cheddar Woods Holiday Home Park toast the success of its first summer season since opening its doors for business in July.
More than 130 guests, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Axbridge, councillors and representatives from local businesses and tourist attractions, attended a champagne reception and were treated to an exclusive tour of Somerset’s newest luxury holiday home park.
Operator Darwin Holiday and Leisure Parks said Cheddar Woods sets a new benchmark in standards for the UK Holiday Park industry thanks to its state-of-the-art facilities, modern lodges finished with bespoke, five star interiors against the backdrop of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Lindsey Bamford, Darwin's managing director, said: “Having invested £8 million in the development, there has been a huge amount of interest in Cheddar Woods locally, and subsequently we were thrilled to have the opportunity to thank everyone for their support and show them the fruits of our labour.
"Located on the outskirts of Cheddar, the development is well placed to draw visitors to Cheddar throughout the year, and we are looking forward to establishing long-lasting rapports with local businesses and attractions to ensure that the park provides a real benefit to the local economy.
“Since opening its doors in July, Cheddar Woods has been fully booked for the summer season, and the popularity of the park is a great testament to the development meeting the needs of holidaymakers, enabling them to forge enduring memories with friends or family time and time again – whether visiting the park as a holidaymaker or as an owner of one of the luxurious lodges.
"Not only have we had a great start to our first season, but we’re fully booked for October half-term and we’ve started taking repeat bookings for next summer. We have also sold our first lodge, and have received some great feedback from other prospective buyers.”
Guests to the champagne reception got to see what Darwin dubs its environmentally-conscious central leisure building which includes a bar, bistro and restaurant; farm shop; gym, health club and spa; indoor swimming pool; and golf simulator.
The park comprises 177 holiday plots in total, including a mix of 117 holiday rentals and 60 lodges for sale.
