Tourism up in Somerset despite slump
Tourist attractions in the South West claimed to be bucking national trends with improved visitor numbers this year.
Businesses in Somerset said the county’s tourism trade was doing better than most in difficult times and will do even better next year thanks to new developments.
Ahead of its third annual conference on November 29 at Haynes International Motor Museum, Somerset Tourism Association said the industry was looking brighter ever year.
Chairman Bob Smart said: “In spite of the Olympics and the bad weather, Somerset is holding its own against stiff international competition.”
