Bitton moved to within a point of Premier Division leaders Brislington with a home win against rivals Larkhall.

With the table-toppers not in league action, Bitton closed the gap with a 2-1 victory, although they have played two more games.

Daine O’Connor gave the hosts an early lead that was cancelled-out by a Ryan Batten own goal, but Mark Salter’s penalty won it for Bitton.

Hallen, meanwhile, were beaten 2-0 at Ilfracombe, Ryan Turner and Karl Baggeley on target for the Devon side.

In the First Division, Shepton Mallet leapfrogged opponents Chard as they returned to the top of the table with a 2-0 home victory.

Both their goals came after the interval, Chris Lane opening the scoring before Tom Seery sealed the points.

Portishead moved up five places to third with a 4-1 triumph at Devizes, Alex Ross and James Playford scoring before Lee Brice registered a double.

Cribbs Friends Life won by the odd goal in five at home to Cheddar, taking the lead three times during their 3-2 victory.

Dave Truan’s opener was cancelled-out by an own goal and Wayne Scorse levelled after James Clarke had put Cribbs back in front, but Clarke’s second finally settled matters.

Corsham came from two goals down late on to draw 2-2 with Almondsbury UWE, while Shrewton and Elmore finished 1-1.
