Babylon 55 Paulton Tomahawks 30

A new-look Paulton Tomahawks squad were unable to overcome an experienced Babylon side on Saturday.

The match started at a quick tempo, with Babylon keen to mark their dominance, but Davina (GS), Cheryl (GA), Hayley (WA) and Jade (C) gelled quickly in attack to score some impressive goals. Babylon were also strong when they got the chance to shoot and led 14-6 after the first quarter.

Darby came on at WA in the first of many changes, while Victoria moved back to GD with Charlotte at GK to unbalance Babylon's shooters.

With Paulton's defence now overturning Babylon's attacking play, the visitors started to close the gap as Ness (WD) linked well with Jade. Davina and Cheryl outplayed their opponents and Paulton narrowed the gap to 24-20 at half-time.

Babylon came out fighting in the third quarter and, although Paulton worked hard to win rebounds and interceptions, the home side were dominant across the court and opened up a 41-25 lead as the visitors were forced into mistakes.

The final quarter saw Cheryl move back to GK, with Charlotte moving out to WD and Hayley swapping with Jade at C. Paulton were determined to hold on to their losing bonus point and worked hard to chase loose balls and make interceptions.

Sisters Darby and Davina proved that their strong partnership continues to work in the higher division as they linked well with Ness at WA and Paulton went away from the match with plenty of positives after improving on their previous result against Babylon. Player of the match was Jade.
