Tom Popham close to Taunton Titans return
Tom Popham is close to making a playing comeback with Taunton Titans after undergoing a cartilage operation.
The youngster, who can play at centre or on the wing, has been sidelined since being injured in a pre-season game against Plymouth in August.

“Tom is not quite ready for first-team rugby, but it won’t be long,” said Titans’ player-coach Tony Yapp. “He was a first-team regular last season and has been sorely missed.”
Meanwhile, the Titans plan to field a strong side for next Tuesday’s Renault Somerset Cup first-round tie away to Old Redcliffians (7.30pm).

The tie should have been played at the end of last year, but was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
The Somerset RFU had to agree for the tie to be played under lights, but with all the postponements due to the bad weather they readily allowed it to go ahead.
