As the owner of two dogs myself and resident of Cheddar, I can not understand why the dog owners who regularly walk their dogs on the pathways around the two ponds in the gorge, Fortes ice cream parlour, and the main path leading up the gorge, refuse to pick up their dog's mess.

I walk my dogs regularly around these areas myself and have noticed that the mess appears after the visitors to the area have left and before they arrive again the following morning.

Conclusion: Locals are responsible.

Buy a roll of nappy sacks, they cost pence, pick the mess up, tie a knot in the bag and drop it in a bin, there is an abundance of bins in these areas. there is no excuse not to do this, no excuse whatsover. You would soon complain if you stepped in a mess and then got in your car, front door etc and spread it everywhere.

I will now carry my digital camera with me and will take a picture of any dog owner I see walking away from a mess they are responsible for and pass it on to the appropriate authorities.

I urge other people to do the same.

I can only conclude that these people are indeed left over from another age, cave dwellers perhaps?
