Another great effort by motorcyclist Lee Hembury at the weekend saw another trophy added to his collection.

With heavy rain during the night and the circuit wet in the morning for practice, Hembury was unsure of tyre choice as Thruxton is a quick-drying track.

The Glastonbury racer was in the second group during practice and the track had already started to have a dry-ish line, so he opted to stay on dries and get the practice laps in to qualify for the main grid.

Hembury started in a lowly 37th place on his King William Inn- sponsored Yamaha R6 in the qualifying race, which would determine his grid position for the final event of the afternoon.

He got off to a bad start with a massive wheelie as the lights went out and found himself nearly last but, as the laps clicked down, Hembury rode hard and gained 19 places before the last lap flag came out.

Despite coming unstuck and taking to the wet grass at nearly 120mph, without touching any of the controls he managed to steer the bike back onto the circuit and came home in 20th position and third in class.

The final was held in superb sunshine and Hembury got off to a good start, gaining several places early on.

Up against some good riders in his class who were on quicker machinery, he managed to bring the bike home safely in 21st position and second in the pre-injection class.

This was a great result for Hembury, who would like to thank friends and family who helped during the day. For more information visit http://leehembury.webs.com.
