Thousand-mile ride for hospice
A WOMAN from Westbury-sub-Mendip has completed an epic journey to raise money for a good cause.
Denise Hoogesteger cycled solo, without backup, from Land's End to John O'Groats, a distance of 1,030 miles in just 17 days.
Denise took on this challenge partly to mark her 60th birthday, but mainly to raise funds for St Margaret's Hospice.
Dozens of friends, neighbours and well-wishers gathered on Saturday to welcome Denise home and wish her a happy birthday with coffee and cakes.
