A Union flag which had been flying at half mast from the seaside jetty from which four-year-old Dylan Cecil fell to his death has been stolen.

Dylan slipped into the sea from the jetty at Burnham-on-Sea last month while visiting the popular resort with his mother and father and two younger sisters. His parents tried in vain to save him.

Avon and Somerset police said yesterday that the flag had disappeared on August 22 and added: "We’re asking the public for help."

Meanwhile, Dylan's funeral is due to take place at 1pm today at St Mary's Church in Kettering.
