Thieves steal 18th century furniture during overnight raid on church

Second-hand shop owners and antique dealers in Somerset are being asked to be on the lookout for items of furniture stolen from a church.

Avon and Somerset Police said thieves forced open the vestry door of St Lawrence Church in Westbury-sub-Mendip, near Wells, and stole some 18th century furniture.

Police said the burglary took place sometime overnight between 7.30pm on Sunday, September 16, and 8.15am the following morning.

Officers want to hear from anyone with any information, including any shops or dealers who may have been offered the furniture.
