Tesco petrol station Amscreens to start scanning faces for advertisers
TV SCREENS in Tesco petrol stations that try to sell you sat navs, maps and advertising space will soon start scanning your face.
In a move that mimics the tailored advertising barrage out of Steven Spielberg's Minority Report, Tesco petrol stations and Lord Sugar's Amscreen, with dunnhumby, have teamed up to harvest data about customers for advertisers.
Amscreens in 450 petrol stations will be able to tell if the person looking at them is male or female, roughly how old they are, the time of day and how long their attention is grabbed by the new OptimEyes system.
The Shepton Mallet branch of Tesco is the only one with a petrol station in mid-Somerset. But which stations are part of the roll-out has not been revealed.
