Tell a good fib? Frome Story Circle want you
Frome Story Circle is searching for people who can spin a good yarn or tell a convincing fib - they may be in with a chance of winning a prize.
Members of the Circle are looking for liars and tellers of tall tales for the second annual Frome Fibbers contest to take place on Wednesday April 3.
Entrants to liars contests are judged on how convincingly they can tell their lie, no matter how far-fetched it may seem. Such competitions are an old tradition, the World’s Biggest Liar competition at Santon Bridge in Cumbria goes back to at least the early nineteenth century and there are many other such competitions throughout England. Last year’s winner was Jem Dick of Langport.
So anyone good at spinning a yarn or telling a tall tale are invited to enter. The rules are that the stories are original, no more than seven minutes long and no scripts or props are allowed. The winner is chosen by the audience in a secret ballot and will receive the Grand Frome Fibbers Trophy.
