Teenage thugs guilty of 'miserable attack' avoid jail

Two teenagers attacked another lad outside Nailsea sports centre.

Joshua Lovell struck Ben Smith and Stephen Scott kicked Mr Smith on the ground, Bristol Crown Court heard. Mr Smith was left with a lump to his head, a cut and a black eye.

Lovell, 18, of Milton Brow, Weston-super-Mare, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Scott, 18, formerly of Rhyne View, Nailsea, but moved to Yatton, was convicted of ABH after a trial.

He was given a one-year community order, with 80 hours of unpaid work and a three-month curfew.

Scott received a six-month sentence suspended for two years, with 150 hours of unpaid work and a three month curfew.

Judge Michael Roach described the incident as a “miserable attack”.
