Taunton Town claim important away win at Mangotsfield United

Leigh Robinson’s side made a bright start and earned a third-minute penalty, but Rodney Marsh put it wide.

Mangotsfield United’s Todd Winter is denied by a last-ditch Taunton Town challenge at Cossham Street on Saturday
For Mangotsfield, Matt Thorne had a header cleared off the line, while Todd Winter saw another goalbound effort well-repelled by the Taunton defence.
Just after the half-hour mark, though, Marsh made amends for his earlier penalty miss by breaking away to slot the ball beyond home goalkeeper Kevin Sawyer for a one-goal lead.

Five minutes after half-time, Winter played a backpass straight to Craig Herrod and he had no problem beating Sawyer to double the lead.
Although Shaun Lamb pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, Ryan Bath’s dismissal cost Mangotsfield their chance of salvaging a point as the Somerset side held out for a well-earned victory.
Mangotsfield host Didcot this evening (7.45pm).
