Taunton School to open £2.3m boarding house for 60 pupils this summer
A leading Somerset independent school is to spend £2.3 million on a vast expansion project.
Taunton School has bought The Grange, a 19th century listed building in nearby Kingston St Mary, with the aim of transforming it into a new boarding house.

As well as providing a significant boost to the local economy, the scheme will create 12 new jobs in the area.
The boarding house will accommodate up to 60 children aged from nine to 14 and will be up and running by June 2012.
Taunton School headmaster Dr John Newton said: “It is good to see the school expanding even in these very difficult economic conditions.
“The education we offer prepares our young people for the challenges of the 21st century. This development places the school in a strong position to bring a high quality educational experience to an even wider group of young people.”
