Britain’s stand-off with Ecuador over the extradition of Julian Assange to Sweden will not harm relations with Latin America, Taunton MP Jeremy Browne told Parliament in one of his last acts as a Foreign Office Minister.

Mr Browne, who was moved to the Home Office in this week’s reshuffle, said relations with Latin America were better than they had been in years.

Former Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell suggested the row over Mr Assange – who has been at Ecuador’s London Embassy since June – could hit relations, potentially over the Falkland Islands.
