Talented youngsters' art applauded
The Merlin Theatre in Frome is applauding the children of Frome schools for their wonderful entries in its painting and design competition launched as part of this year's Christmas musical show Pinocchio.
An outline picture of Pinocchio was distributed to the Frome schools for the younger children to colour in. The older children were asked to design their own.
The winners will get tickets to the show and the overall winner will also have his or her artwork featured as the cover of the programme being sold during all the Pinocchio performances.
Merlin director, Claudia Pepler, has been delighted with the response to the competition: "We all know things have been tough in the arts lately so I feel excited and genuinely moved that, yet again, the creative nature of so many local children is shining through. It is truly heart-warming to know that such numbers of local people are keen to be involved in the arts – whether through design, back-stage work or right out in front of the audience singing, dancing and acting in the show itself."
