Table tumble should give players 'kick in the behind'
DROPPING into npower League One's relegation zone will give Yeovil Town a "kick up the backside" according to manager Terry Skiverton.
Saturday's 4-0 drubbing at Notts County saw the Glovers' enter the bottom four for the first time in Skiverton's tenure.
Brentford's 1-0 home success against top-of-the-table Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday compounded the misery for Yeovil, as the Bees leapfrogged the Huish Park club.
Yeovil enter Saturday's home clash with Tranmere Rovers second-from-bottom and Skiverton said their league position could buck up ideas among his squad.
"We had a talk about that after the game," he said. "I said that I had not been in the bottom four so far.
"It is better that it is early days, rather than later on in the season. It gives us the little kick up the backside that we needed.
"I think we are in a bit of a comfort zone at the moment. We will be getting out of that and we will be working hard and we will be turning it around."
Poor defending condemned Yeovil to their worst defeat of the season to date at Notts County, as the Magpies romped to victory as they marked 100 years at Meadow Lane.
Craig Westcarr opened the scoring in the first half, profiting from his markers failing to intercept a bouncing long ball.
Ben Davies doubled the advantage as Yeovil's Millwall loan keeper John Sullivan made an uncharacteristic error from a saveable shot.
The midfielder gave his team a 3-0 interval lead, making the most of space, before Lee Hughes completed the rout midway through the second half.
Skiverton expects to welcome back Swansea City loanee Shaun MacDonald, as he returns from international duty with Wales Under-21s.
The manager also said that recent results have forced him to move for another target sooner than he had intended.
Skiverton said: "There will be two people coming in next week, no matter what. If loan people find themselves on the outskirts then they will have to fight to get back in.
"Last year, we were down to the bare bones around this time as well, if I remember rightly, with people being out.
There are a few fresh faces coming in, and with a couple of people coming back, I'm more than determined to turn this around.
"We will be going for that (additional) person and making sure that they come."
