TLC for Shepton Mallet
A little bit of TLC is heading to Shepton Mallet this summer.
It comes courtesy of the town's Christians Together group, local businesses and organisations, Shepton Mallet Town Council and volunteers from the New Wine Summer Conference at the Bath and West Showground.
This week they joined forces and embarked on a variety of projects to improve and spruce up the town.
Emma Kendall, chairman of Christians Together in Shepton Mallet and LOVE Shepton Mallet local projects co-ordinator, said "We are planning a variety of exciting projects to enhance the community and show some love to the town."

The projects started on Monday and will continue until next Thursday, August 2.
Emma said: "The overall aim of the project is to undertake a range of activities which will enhance the town and encourage the local community.
"New Wine are offering more than 100 volunteers to join with local supporters in participating in the various projects.
"Basically, we want to join together to show Shepton Mallet some TLC!" said Emma.
The projects include:
The Shepton Mallet Lido – painting 10 large beach hut facades to enhance the wall between the pool and the cider factory to provide a bright and cheerful atmosphere.
St Paul's School – painting the rainbow room and corridor and painting a rainbow mural to brighten up the area.
Pullen Court – tidying up and re-planting gardens for the residents in extra care housing.
Individual homes – tidying gardens and providing plants for a few homes of vulnerable older people who need support and also decorating homes for a couple of families in partnership with the Children's Centre.
Windsor Hill Wood – chopping wood for the winter and laying foundations for a new building at this woodland project which hosts guests from the community and from further afield who are facing either difficult or uncertain times.
The Meadows – clearing a trailer full of rubbish, and planting to prevent future littering along this public footpath and popular dog walking route.
Various locations – litter picking to clean up the environment.
On top of the improvement work the project is providing four free family fun days for the whole community.
The first two of these took place on Monday and Wednesday this week with more planned for next Tuesday and Thursday.
The planned Collett Park fun days include games, races, music, barbecue food and face painting while the Pool Parties at the Lido include pool games, a splash area, and refreshments.
The costs of these projects and activities is being met by contributions from New Wine, Christians Together and sponsorship in money or goods from the town council and local businesses.
Sadly the recent heavy rain which left the Bath and West Showground somewhat waterlogged forced New Wine organisers to delay the arrival of delegates on to the site by a day and the conference therefore officially started on Sunday.
But Emma said she was hopeful that a day's delay should not effect the delegates' planned Shepton Mallet activities and projects too much and that the people of the town will be pleased with the results of their efforts.
