Suspected knifeman arrested in Highbridge

A suspected knifeman was arrested following a huge police search in Highbridge, Somerset, on Tuesday night.

Police were called to Marine Drive at around 8pm to a report of a man causing problems in the area.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Police officers tried to speak to him but he ran from police. A search of the area located the man and he was arrested in Brunel’s Way at around 9.40pm.”

The 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and possession of a knife blade or sharply pointed article.
