Subway in Wells closes for second time and it may be permanent
The Wells branch of Subway has closed down for the second time in four and a half years.
Less than three years after re-opening, the international fast food franchise's Wells branch has shut its doors for what could be the final time.
Subway's regional development agent said: "We can confirm that the Subway store on Wells High Street has closed and there are currently no plans for it to re-open in the immediate future."
Subway is the largest restaurant chain globally with more than 37,000 stores in 100 countries from Afghanistan to Zambia.

The UK is Subway's largest market outside the America but it seems the people of Wells do not share their compatriots' enthusiasm for foot long subs.
Subway first opened in Wells in September 2007 when it became the first branded fast food chain in the city.
However, in May 2009 the store closed for more than a year while a new franchisee was sought by the parent company.
A group of former business students took over the store in July 2010.
At the time Subway were optimistic of the store being a success with a spokesman saying: "The team behind the outlet at the bottom of the High Street are looking forward to a long and healthy time in Wells."
Now 29 months later they have also decided to call it a day leaving the city without a fast food chain.
Anyone still wishing to get their Subway fix will now have to go to the branches in Cheddar, Street or Glastonbury.
