Stunning second-half strikes earn Cheddar derby win at Churchill
Dominant Cheddar Reserves claimed a 2-0 victory at local rivals Churchill Club in the Somerset League Division 2 West thanks to stunning second-half goals from Kyle Gould and Lewis Rogers.
New signings Ash Towler and Lewis Rogers caused problems for the Churchill defence as the first half ended goalless but Cheddar’s superior fitness told after the break.
Some great passing set up Gould 30 yards out and he unleashed a screamer with his weaker foot to give the visitors the lead.
Churchill’s Greg Dover was overworked as Cheddar continued to pile on the pressure, with Harry Davidson exploiting gaps in the defence, and Rogers deservedly doubled their tally with a superb effort.
