Fine art student Joanne Bristowe is one step nearer taking part in the semi-finals of the Miss England contest after being selected as a finalist in a competition in Bristol.

Joanne, aged 19, from Westfield, is in her second year at the University of the West of England and is delighted to have been selected to take part in the final of the Miss Bristol competition on Sunday, May 31.

She said: "I have always been interested in fashion and modelling, and have done some modelling in the past.

"This is something I would not normally go in for but I thought it would be good experience."

During the final at Panache in Bristol, Joanne will take part in a fashion show in both evening dress and a club outfit.

The top 10 girls will then be interviewed on stage before the winner is chosen.

As well as the chance to become Miss Bristol, Joanne is also taking part in a Miss Popularity section when the public votes by text after viewing the Miss Bristol section of the Miss England website, www.missengland.info.

She will also be fundraising for the National Autistic Society in a bid to become Miss Charity.

Joanne hopes to work for a fashion and art magazine when she finishes her degree.

She has already featured in Company magazine after winning a photo shoot.

Joanne said: "I had to send in a photograph of myself in a unique style to take part. I have a quirky style and listen to myself rather than fashion styles.

"I am interested in fashion photography and all my art is fashionesque."
