Revised scheme for solar farm rejected by planners
REVISED proposals for a solar farm near the Battle of Langport site have been thrown out.
TGC Renewables submitted fresh plans after being refused permission to build a 22-acre solar panel array at Tengore Lane, Long Sutton.
The site is one of only 43 battlefields registered by English Heritage and one of only two in Somerset.
The new plans were scaled down to omit the western side of the site where the registered battlefield lies.

But residents and both the Battlefields Trust and English Heritage continued to oppose the plans despite the changes.
And South Somerset District Council has now refused to grant planning permission for the scheme for a second time.
David Norris, development manager at the district council, said the solar farm would have an adverse impact on the registered battlefield, its archaeology and historic setting.
