Can I have some more? Stoberry Park School kids go back to Victorian age
PUPILS at Stoberry Park School, in Wells, have been embarking upon a journey through time and space this term as part of their Back to the Future project.
This week their time machine has taken them to the Victorian period.
A Victorian day at school was inspired by a visit to Glastonbury’s Rural Life museum – which helped children understand what life was like for children back then.
Staff and pupils arrived in school dressed in period costume and experienced lessons “Victorian Style”.
Pupils took part in PE drills, writing, arithmetic and geography lessons as children of the period would have had.
The children have also explored recent history, looking at fashion and music from the 1960s to the present day and held a family disco.
Then, following a visit to @Bristol, they embarked on discovering the age of the dinosaurs. Children explored how fossils are made and had a go at being palaeontologists.
The children will end the term creating their own time machines to explore the future.
A visit to Carymoor environmental centre will teach children the importance of reusing and recycling materials and children will be considering what the world will be like when they are older.
