Station transformed into railway at war
People had the chance to step back to the 1940s as Midsomer Norton's heritage railway station was transformed as part of the Railway at War weekend.
There were army reenactments, a singer performing songs from the era, Land Girls, classic vehicles and the chance to drive the train.
The Silver Street station is run as a historical tourist attraction by Somerset and Dorset Railway Trust, which hopes to be able to restore the station to its former glory for the enjoyment of visitors.
There is major work being carried out at the station by volunteers to extend the line.

In spring permission was granted by both Bath and North East Somerset Council and Mendip District Council for the second stage extension of the railway at Midsomer Norton and work has now started on this stretch of land heading out towards Chilcompton.
Previously some felling of trees in the track bed had been undertaken and fence repairs carried out by a railway working party, but there are still vegetation, wood and tree stumps to be removed.
Last week a group started to clear vegetation ahead of contractors' heavy plant machinery entering the site to remove tree stumps and prepare and grade the track bed.
This will extend the length of operational line to more than 1,000m. Long-term plans are to take the line a further 550m to a halt and run-round north of Chilcompton Tunnel.
