Speeding cars led to tyre burst
My husband and I were driving an elderly lady to the Eye Hospital for an appointment one lunchtime.
We were driving down Lower Park Row when two cars came speeding up, the second one was a private hire car, and although it was our right of way my husband realised they were not going to stop so pulled over to the kerbside.
As he did so there was a big bang, but neither of the oncoming cars stopped, of course.
We naturally were not going anywhere as there was a hole in the tyre, on the front passenger's side.

This was now 1.15 and the elderly lady had to be at the eye hospital by 1.30. I got out of the car and went to the nearest offices Mustard.
A very kind young man phoned, on his personal mobile, for a taxi to take the elderly lady to the hospital, she could not have walked it. The taxi arrived within five minutes thankfully.
We then phoned the garage we use and although they had no tyres they ordered one.
We then phoned the AA and their man arrived within half an hour and found our spare tyre and put it on and made sure it was alright.
We then went to our garage and the new tyre had arrived. Whilst they fitted it they told us where to find something to eat, as we had missed lunch, and came and got us when the car was ready.
Thank you to the young man from Mustard, the young girl from The Ship, the AA and SF Tebby.
Please may I ask cars coming up Lower Park Row not to speed and think what they are doing, as I understand we are not the first car to have a burst tyre when they have hit the Lower Park Row kerbside.
