Daisy Goldsmith of Kings of Wessex Academy, in Cheddar, has been hailed the youngest female football referee by Guinness World Records.

The record was set on her 14th birthday two years ago but it has only just been printed in the definitive book.

Mum Fiona said: “Daisy’s just happy to be a referee and this is a by-product of that. She didn’t set out to be a Guinness World Record breaker but it’s been a fantastic achievement and an honour for her.”

Football has always been the dream for the Watford fan and she signed up to be a referee to make her a better player.

When she’s not watching the pitch the Puriton teen is playing on it for Bishops Lydeard and has now been tasked with putting her own squad together as part of her ref duties.

Her record from Guinness’ website says: “The youngest football referee (female) was Daisy Goldsmith (UK) who received her level nine qualifications from The Football Association on her 14th birthday, in Puriton, UK, on March 10, 2010.

“Goldsmith joined a reported rank of 25,502 qualified referees in the nation at the time of her appointment, only 407 of whom were female.

“In her first match as a qualified FA referee, Goldsmith called a penalty against the team from her own school, Chilton Trinity.”

Her record is also set to hit TV screens with the return of Record Breakers who have asked to feature Daisy.
