Over the last six months Somerset County Cricket Club have been working closely with Taunton Deane and at a meeting this week the scheme was overwhelmingly supported by local councillors.
Somerset chief executive Guy Lavender said: “I was delighted that the Scrutiny Committee decided to recommend our proposal and it will now go to Taunton Deane’s full council for final approval in early December. This is exceptionally good news and the council’s assistance will be critical in helping us to achieve our objective of bringing international cricket to the County Ground.”
